3rd Annual Golf Classic
With the help of generous sponsors, guests, participants and volunteers, the 3rd Annual Carrington Charitable Foundation (CCF) Golf Classic held on October 14th, 2013 at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast, California raised $1.3 million to assist wounded Veterans and their families through the Veterans Airlift Command and Carrington House Project.
“We can’t begin to express our gratitude to everyone who came together to support our mission,” shares Rosemary Rose, CCF Chairman of the Board. “None of this would be possible without the unending support from individuals and organizations who share our desire to assist service members and their families.”
The Veterans Airlift Command organizes free air transportation through a network of volunteer aircraft owners and pilots for severely wounded Veterans and their families of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. Carrington’s flight department has had the honor of participating on missions with aircraft and crew over the last seven years, transporting Heroes to medical facilities for treatment and reuniting them with their loved ones.
CCF’s work with the VAC inspired action to address another crucial need – a lack of proper housing near medical facilities for rehabilitating Veterans and their families. To meet this need, the Carrington House Project provides housing solutions during the initial period of recovery to keep families united during this emotional and traumatic time in their lives.
What began as primarily temporary housing for recovering Veterans and their families near hospital facilities has inspired the Carrington House Project to meet an additional need – providing wounded Veterans with a suitable permanent home for when they are ready to leave the treatment center. The homes that worked for them and their families before they were injured no longer meet their most basic needs and make the simplest of tasks simply impossible.
A portion of the 2013 Golf Classic funds were directed to build five one-of-a-kind permanent Smart Homes for severely wounded Veterans all across United States to give them back the feeling of independence and freedom. Carrington plans to start construction on an additional seven homes in 2014, continuing the effort to fundraise and make living easier for the wounded Heroes who sacrificed for our freedom.
Throughout the Golf Classic event, wounded Veterans are honored and share their stories of extraordinary sacrifice in the name of our collective freedom. Attendees are inspired and motivated by the experiences of our brave military members, driving action to ease their burden and thank them for their service.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible and for helping CCF continue our work with the military community and give back to America’s wounded Heroes.
