Why Do We Host the CCF Golf Classic?
There are lots of golf tournaments held for lots of charities, but ours, the 9th Annual Carrington Charitable Foundation Golf Classic, happening this year on Columbus Day, Oct. 14, at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, CA, continues thanks to the support and generosity of our donors, supporters, volunteers and friends.
Each year we’ve made progress in our mission to have a positive impact on the lives of our wounded Veterans and their families through CCF’s Veteran-focused Signature Programs. Since our first Golf Classic in 2011, we have raised more than $17 million for these programs, which support Veterans through initiatives that provide:
- Mobility: CCF financially supports The Veterans Airlift Command (VAC). Working with a network of volunteer aircraft owners and pilots, the VAC provides free private air transportation for Veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts and their families.
- Stability: Carrington House provides custom, adaptive homes for catastrophically injured Veterans. To date, Carrington House has built 23 homes for deserving Veterans, each designed to meet the special needs of wounded Veterans and their families. Two additional homes currently are in progress.
- Purpose: CCF assists such Veteran-focused nonprofits as GallantFew and the Travis Mills Foundation.
- Prosperity: CCF also supports the The Honor Foundation, which helps Navy SEALs and U.S. Special Operations service members transition to life after service. The Veteran Support Program focuses on easing the transition for our Veterans back to civilian life.
Carrington Associates across the country rally together each year to support the Golf Classic by filling baskets for the Associate Auction Basket Competition and by holding bake sales and other Associate-driven activities to fundraise. Associates also volunteer during the tournament to assist Veterans, their families and other honored guests who attend.
“Through events like the golf tournament, CCF has become a platform for Carrington Leaders and Associates to serve the communities in which we live and work,” says Rosemary Rose, Chairman of the Carrington Charitable Foundation. “CCF supports a variety of nonprofit causes across the country through fundraising, donation drives and volunteering. We appreciate those who participate in these programs and who work to make these programs possible. Thank you for joining us in the mission to aide our nation’s Heroes. Your support makes all the difference!”
If you’re in Southern California and you’d like to volunteer to help out during the tournament, let Shelly Lawrence or Brittany Barnes know. And if you want to play a beautiful golf course while supporting Veterans, tickets to join the tournament are still available. Each ticket package includes breakfast, lunch, cocktails and the evening banquet and auction.
