Boxes for Our Troops

July 18, 2017

Welcome to July, and this month’s charitable focus for Military Awareness Month: Boxes for Our Troops — a great way to show your appreciation for our active servicemen and women. Those who are currently serving our country rarely receive mail, leaving them to cope without words of encouragement and support from friends and family back home. Boxes for Our Troops offers opportunities for Associates to donate basic supplies and other personal items that show how much we care.

As in previous years, CCF will be collecting items across all Carrington offices until the end of the month, and will then ship them overseas to our active duty military. But this year has a twist. We’re inviting all of our Carrington Associates to participate in our Boxes for Our Troops Challenge. Here’s how it works: Associates are invited to form a team. Prizes will be given in two categories: one covering teams with less than 50 people, and another with teams of more than 50 people. You have until Friday, July 21st, to sign up online and register your team for the competition.

Once you’re registered, your team captain will receive an email with instructions on how to get the special USPS flat rate boxes and forms, and an address to send your items to – and every address is for servicemen and women who are in some way connected to the Carrington family. Then, you and your team will collect such goods as travel-sized toiletries, bath needs, baby powder and wipes, tissue packs, hand sanitizer, lip balm, non-perishable food items and snacks (chips, pretzels, popcorn and the like), candy (but no chocolate), small toys for children, various balls for sports, magazines and a greeting card with a note to show your support.

Then it’s time to pack and ship your boxes. You’ll have until Friday, Aug. 11, to ship all your team boxes to your designated troops – and CCF will reimburse your shipping costs, so save your receipts. Each team will be evaluated by the number of boxes they’ve packed, divided by the number of their team members. The highest ratio of boxes packed per team members wins a catered breakfast and lunch in the office from the Executive Team!

We’re coming down to the wire on sign-ups, so please act fast. Let’s beat our 2016 record of shipping 1,000 boxes overseas, and show our troops how much we care!
