2016 Special Olympics SoCal Summer Games
On the weekend of June 11 and 12, the human spirit will be on full display during the 2016 Special Olympics Summer Games at California State University, Long Beach. On those days, Associate volunteers from Carrington will be helping to support more than 1,100 Special Olympics athletes from across Southern California competing for gold, silver and bronze medals and ribbons.
Sponsored in part by our very own Carrington Charitable Foundation, the Games feature six summer sports: aquatics, athletics (track and field), basketball, bocce, golf and gymnastics. Special Olympics is the world's largest sports organization for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, providing year-round training and competitions to more than 4.5 million athletes in 170 countries.
Please join us for this unforgettable weekend, and for associated initiatives throughout the month, as Special Olympics athletes experience joy and inspire greatness in one another – accompanied by cheers from the enthusiastic crowds. To join our team as a Summer Games volunteer for available sports shifts, please follow the registration instructions here to create your unique volunteer account where you can register, cancel and manage your assignments. Please do not register for festival shifts. We only have a few volunteer spots, so make sure you register by May 25!
If you volunteer with Special Olympic charities or help like-minded initiatives, please share your experiences with us. Let’s help support and cheer on this incredible organization!
