Working Wardrobes Rebuild & VetNet Walk in Their Shoes Event
Carrington is a proud supporter of the many worthy contributions that Working Wardrobes offers to our community. After a recent tragedy, we have the opportunity to help them rebuild.
On Sunday, Feb. 2, 2020, a fire consumed the Working Wardrobes headquarters in Irvine, CA, and, unfortunately, everything was destroyed. We’re teaming up with the Anaheim Ducks and Consolidated Analytics to assist this well-respected, local nonprofit organization in their recovery efforts.
Since 1990, Working Wardrobes has served more than 100,000 area men, women, young adult and Veteran clients who have overcome difficult challenges on their journey to meaningful employment. In addition to providing gently-used clothing and accessories, Working Wardrobes also empowers their clients from the inside out, helping them to develop the skills and confidence they need in a competitive job market.
We want to do whatever we can to help Working Wardrobes rebuild its inventory. Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 18th, and continuing through the end of the month, we are accepting donations of clothing and accessories for Working Wardrobes in Anaheim at 1600 South Douglas, and in Aliso Viejo on the 3rd Floor. In Plano, look for boxes for donations in the first- and second-floor breakrooms. In Westfield, collection boxes are in office 1-109 located in the southwest corner on the first floor. Need help finding it? Contact Leslie White.
Here are the donation guidelines:
- • CLEAN clothing ON HANGERS (can be work clothes or non-work clothes).
- • Men’s professional and business casual clothing.
- • Women’s professional and business casual clothing.
- • Shirts, blouses, pants, skirts, blazers.
- • Dresses, gowns and designer goods.
- • Accessories, belts, scarves and costume jewelry (jewelry should be individually bagged, so things stay together and untangled).
- • Ties, pocket squares, NEW underwear and socks.
- • Shoes, purses and handbags.
- • Full-sized bath products.
- • Interview clothes (must be dry cleaned and hung).
If you don't have clothing to donate, you can still help. CCF has set up this special page for monetary donations. All funds will be used to purchase gift cards for gas and other necessities and will be given to Working Wardrobes clients in need. Sadly, all the gift cards Working Wardrobes had in their inventory were destroyed in the fire. Please consider making a donation here.
We're hoping our SoCal Associates can spring clean a little early this year to support this deserving organization. Thank you for doing whatever you can to help.
Despite the fire, Working Wardrobes is proceeding with their 3rd Annual VetNet Walk in Their Shoes event. This 5K Walk, Fun Run and Finish Line Festival will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at Lakeview Park near Lake Irvine in Silverado. This outstanding event supports all the services that Working Wardrobes provides to Veterans through their VetNet program.
Please organize your team of Associates, friends or family to support our local Orange County Veterans who need your help.
Registration for the event is FREE, and the first 50 teams to register will be entered into a raffle to win a $150 Visa gift card. Working Wardrobes is also offering some incredible prizes at various fundraising levels, and there will be a Finish Line Festival with great surprises and entertainment.
So get your boots (or walking shoes) on and march on down to participate in this wonderful event. Join Working Wardrobes with your team, and make a difference in helping Veterans change their lives.
