Time to Sign Up for the 2019 Run Ranger Run

January 15, 2019

We’re hitting the ground running, literally, with our community service and charity efforts this year. February may be a short month, but you can cover a lot of miles (with nine teammates) for a great cause in its 28 days. It’s time to get Carrington teams together for our annual participation in Run Ranger Run, a nationwide fundraiser benefiting GallantFew, which helps Veterans make “a peaceful, successful transition from military service to a civilian life filled with hope and purpose.”

Teams of up to 10 people pledge to walk, run, row, swim, and/or bike a combined total of 565 miles in February. You can recruit co-workers, friends, and family members to log those miles with you. And you don’t have to do them together – just post your mileage here as you make progress at home or at the gym.

First, register your team here. Then send in the names on your team by the end of January, and be sure to email your weekly updates on the mile totals finished in February by you and your team members to Shelly Lawrence, Executive Director of Community Relations for Carrington Charitable Foundation. NOTE: Registration fees are NOT covered by CCF. Each participant pays their own registration fee.

In 2018 there were 2,630 Run Ranger Run participants around the globe, comprising 286 teams that logged 203,275 miles, ultimately raising $313,000.00. Here at Carrington, 34 teams from across the Carrington Companies joined the fun for the 2018 run. Together, the Associates on these teams ran 18,424 miles and raised $55,342 for GallantFew.

Why 565 miles? In 2012, 3rd Ranger Battalion US Army Corporal Cory Smith, a two-time combat Veteran, found himself physically and emotionally challenged by seeing his friends and fellow soldiers wounded and killed. After returning home to face challenges in his marriage, Smith decided to highlight the difficult journey back to civilian life by undertaking a symbolic personal journey, running 565 miles in 28 days to raise awareness for Veteran transition issues.

CCF will be matching some of this year’s funds raised. Watch for how much to be announced by Feb. 1. GallantFew is one of our favorite charities, and has long been supported by the Carrington Charitable Foundation. Team up now and tally those miles!
