The 2020 CCF Golf Classic Goes Virtual
This year, due to current health and safety concerns, the annual CCF Golf Classic event will take place without golf as the central attraction. Instead, the event will be transformed into a virtual fundraiser featuring a silent auction, live auction, speeches and performances.
In the spirit of the Read. Watch. React. Campaign we launched earlier this summer, we’re calling this year’s event REACT: A CCF Virtual Fundraiser. The fun will take place on Oct. 12, 2020.
Historically, the annual CCF Golf Classic event brings in the majority of our fundraising revenue for the year, providing critical support to CCF’s Signature Programs. Even though the full event will not be presented as usual this year, we still have important commitments to honor with our Veteran Heroes and their families. Ongoing donations and support are critical to building our Veterans the homes they deserve.
This year, we’re specifically raising funds for the four Carrington House projects under construction in 2020/2021. We have broken ground on homes for the families of U.S. Army Sergeant 1st Class Matthew Miles and U.S. Army Specialist Michael Liscomb; and we have also started the building process for U.S. Marine Corporal Michael Jernigan and U.S. Army Sergeant Matthew Melancon.
During the fundraiser this year, we are likely to hear from some of those Veterans who are recipients of Carrington House homes, as well as representatives from other Veteran Support organizations that CCF supports.
Last year, the CCF Golf Classic event raised more than $1.8 million benefitting CCF’s Signature Program initiatives that enable Mobility, Stability, Purpose and Prosperity for U.S. servicemen and women returning from post-9/11 battlefields. More than 260 golfers participated; and the event culminated in a dinner and auction attended by more than 500 people – the largest attendance in the event’s nine-year history.
Tickets for this year’s event will be on sale soon.
