Hurricane Relief

September 13, 2017

The latest estimates for the costs from Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma predict a total of up to $200 billion in damage, to Texas and Florida, comparable to the costs from Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005, according to a preliminary estimate from Moody's Analytics on Monday.

During Hurricane Harvey, Texas Governor Greg Abbott activated the entire Texas National Guard in response to the storm, bringing the total number of deployed guardsman to roughly 12,000. The men and women of the Texas National Guard are currently assisting in the extensive recovery effort in the aftermath of the storm. Guard members include a number of Carrington Associates like Lateisha Singleton, a Carrington Special Servicing Specialist in Plano, Texas.

In Florida, an estimated 25 percent of the houses in the Florida Keys have been destroyed, and another 65 percent suffered major damage. On Monday morning, Irma was downgraded to a tropical storm, but is still affecting Americans across nine states, with lives lost so far in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina.

Our hearts are with our Associates and the citizens of Texas and Florida as they assess the damage and work to recover from Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

“We feel a sense of pride and duty to help our fellow community members to recover from Hurricane Harvey,” said Rosemary Rose, Chairman of the Carrington Charitable Foundation, “The devastation we have seen as a result of this storm is not only unprecedented, but tragic. Our hearts go out to all those affected by each of these hurricanes, and we will do all that we can to help rebuild and recover, starting with helping local nonprofits involved in the relief efforts. In keeping with our mission statement, we plan to continue to help those in the Carrington communities in which we live and work. Together, we can recover and rebuild.”
