One thing that’s so wonderful about working at Carrington is how our Associates commit to charitable initiatives, going above and beyond what’s expected to help serve their communities. Our Westfield, IN, Associates have been hard at work in their communities, helping in wonderfully inventive ways – and making a big difference.
In mid-May, members of the Westfield Customer Service team banded together to create “Team Cumming,” in honor of Customer Service Supervisor Shaunna Cumming, to help out at Damar Services in Indianapolis. Damar Services is a nonprofit organization serving children and adults with developmental and behavioral disabilities. The organization is building new facilities to better serve the community, so “Team Cumming” helped out with some digging, hoeing, shoveling and carting as the organization made plans to add to their facilities.
“During our trip we got to tour the campus, learn about what is actually done at the facility and how many families they assist on a regular basis,” said Shaunna Cumming, Customer Service Supervisor. “We also helped make the facility more beautiful by mulching the grounds. It was a bit of hard work, but overall a lot of fun, and we were glad that we could be of assistance.”
Also in mid-May, the Westfield Customer Service team of “Team Garcia” volunteered at the Humane Society of Hamilton County. Customer Service Specialists Arcelia Alvarado and Jasmine Sanchez helped in the laundry room, washing, drying, folding and organizing towels, blankets and beds for the animals. Customer Service Specialists Diana May and Carolyn Parker helped stuff peanut butter into toys for dog treats. And Customer Service Specialist Elic Aburto helped with housekeeping tasks around the front desk and office areas. The rest of the team helped with filing papers in the office.
It was an experience the Humane Society greatly appreciated. “It’s great to get the help,” said Aislinn Parsons-Lowney, Volunteer Program Manager. “With everything our staff does on a daily basis, some of the small things can get left behind. We really appreciate companies taking time out of their busy day to come and help us.”
Lastly, the Westfield Customer Service team created “Team Davis-Boyd” and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in late May. The house welcomes volunteers who are willing to serve meals to the families that stay there while going through treatment at the nearby Riley Children’s Hospital – and some of the families are long-term residents, as their children require long-term hospitalization. “Team Davis-Boyd” worked together to serve Chicken Ranch Casserole, Chicken Noodle Soup Casserole and Spaghetti bake to the families staying in the 46 bedrooms at Ronald McDonald House, as their children received medical care.
Congratulations to our Westfield Associates for all their hard charitable work. We look forward to hearing what everyone accomplished in June.
