Plano Associates Grant Veteran’s Birthday Wish
CCF is proud of our Plano Associates, who came together to grant a birthday wish for a special Veteran. World War II Vet Joe Cuba let everyone around him know that he had one wish for his 100th birthday: to receive 100 birthday cards. After they heard, Carrington Associates in Plano more than granted his wish.
“True to CCF’s mission, Plano Associates supported a great cause that reflects the interests of Carrington leaders and Associates," says Shelly Lawrence, Executive Director of Community Relations, Carrington Charitable Foundation. “We’re proud of Plano Associates for joining together to help make sure this Veteran had a happy birthday.”
It all started when Marriah Franklin, a Foreclosure Analyst for Carrington Mortgage Services, saw a news story about Joe Cuba, a Veteran living at an assisted living facility in Wichita Falls, Texas. Joe proudly served his country in World War II and, as he closed in on celebrating a century of life in America, he wanted to celebrate his birthday by opening 100 birthday cards.
After Marriah told him about Joe, Ray Brousseau, President of Carrington Mortgage Services, spread the word. Plano Associates from every department quickly went into action, filling out birthday cards and dropping them off with Glenda Shelby, Plano’s Senior Human Resource Generalist. Glenda packed up the cards in a big box, adding a few extra goodies including a Carrington coffee mug, CCF- and Carrington-branded beverage flasks and a Dallas Cowboys cap.
“The Plano site was happy to support Mariah’s initiative for Joe to have a great 100th birthday," said Glenda. “At Carrington, we love our Veterans!"
