Carrington Holiday Drives Across the Country

January 16, 2020

The new year brings with it recognition for another great season of holiday giving by Carrington Associates. CCF is sincerely grateful for the wealth of participation by Associate volunteers who gave generously to so many disadvantaged and deserving people and organizations all over the United States. Here’s a look at holiday giving in the communities where Carrington Associates work and live.

Associates were generous this year for the CASA Holiday Children’s Gift Drive in Aliso Viejo, CA, and Anaheim, CA. The children of CASA Orange County are severely abused, abandoned and neglected children who have been placed in foster care for their own protection. The kids received new toys, as well as support through the Illumination Foundation, which provides targeted, interdisciplinary services for the most vulnerable homeless adults and children to break the cycle of homelessness.

In Brentwood, TN, Associates rallied for single mom Emily Sheerer and her special needs son, River. The family received canned goods, packaged snacks and winter clothing.

In Greenwich, CT, Associates were generous for the Toys for Tots drive, which gathered toys for children from babies to teenagers. Every year, Toys for Tots helps millions of less fortunate children share in the magic of the holidays.

The Mistletoes Children’s Sock Drive for the J.P. Hall Children’s Charities benefitted underprivileged children in Clay County, FL., by supplying new pairs of boys and girls socks for children aged newborn to 14 years old. Jacksonville leadership thanks all the Associates Sock Drive collected almost 550 pairs of socks.

“Thanks to Jacksonville Associates, these kids have new socks for colder days ahead!” says Kristina Griffin, Specialist, Training & Development.

In December in Plano, Texas, the Plano Police Association’s Christmas Cops program saw loads upon loads of gifts benefiting 25 families this year. During the past three years, Plano Associates have participated in this rewarding opportunity to assist less fortunate Plano families during the Christmas Season.

“Engaged Associates in the Plano office continue to make a difference helping others,” says Glenda Shelby, MS, CTACC, Employee Relations Manager, for Carrington Mortgage Holdings. “This year, we not only supported children with toys, but we also provided clothing, blankets, gifts and gift cards for parents and special needs children, and adults and grandparents who are caretakers.”

Glenda says that for the past three years Plano Associates go full throttle for every effort – from Christmas Cops, to assisting the homeless, to helping with local Minnie’s Food Pantry and more – by providing such diverse community assistance as food, clothing, helping with homeless children, signing cards for Veterans and so much more.

“Thank you for being so generous and caring during the holiday season,” says Heather Bowden, Public Information Coordinator for the Plano Police Department. “The gifts brought smiles to many faces.”

“We have had people tell us we’ve made the difference in the world,” says Glenda.

Westfield, IN, Associates came through for The Children’s Bureau in Indianapolis, IN. For the past four years, our Westfield, IN, location participated in Hope for the Holidays. This laudable program is an opportunity to sponsor children who are in need for the holidays, including children in foster care or young adults who are aging out of the foster care program. It’s a valuable way for generous Carrington Associates – and the entire Central Indiana community – to give back and to make a difference in the lives of children. Hope for the Holidays drive served 1,000 children with new toys, clothing and hygiene items.

This year, Westfield sponsored 33 children and collected a huge number of toy and personal hygiene product donations – enough to fill 16 big boxes! In the holiday contest, Team Escrow led, adopting 14 children, with Team Chris Poston in second place with 6 kids. The celebration included a fundraiser that resulted in Moses Moore and Stephen Shawhan dressing up as Santa Claus. And the Westfield team recruited a new ambassador to assist in their fundraising endeavors: The Loan Admin Traveling Elf, who excitement and enthusiasm for a great cause.

“In addition to being able to help children in need during the holidays, we’ve also enjoyed coming together as team to support such a worthy cause,” says Ingrid Garcia, Manager, Loan Servicing, Special Loans. “And we’d like to acknowledge and thank our Loan Admin Traveling Elf – aka Kurt Wallingford, Acquisitions & Service Release Supervisor – for helping to make this event so much fun!”

And in Windsor, CT, more than 80 children’s faces were bright having received holiday toys. The Windsor Team came through once again this year, showing incredible generosity. Windsor Associates provided gifts for children participating in the Connecticut Department of Children and Families Christmas Wish List program. Associates snapped up all of the available wish cards, purchased every requested item and made sure every holiday wish came true for 82 disadvantaged children.

“Windsor surely made a huge difference for these less-than-fortunate kids,” says Maria Webster, Executive Assistant to the EVP. “Our only wish is that we could actually see the joy on their faces Christmas morning!”
