On the Move: A Team Westfield Raises Funds for a Great Cause
During this past summer, Lindsay Davis, Quality Assurance Analyst in Westfield, IN, and other team members from Loan Servicing Quality Assurance, embarked on a charity walk for their local ALS chapter.
“After the ALS Water Challenge a few years ago, it seemed that ALS was practically forgotten,” says Lindsay. “We wanted to honor all those who fight this battle.”
The walk was scheduled for Sept. 19, 2020, and the team – which also included Melissa Smith, Director, LS Quality Assurance, and Brianna Wren, Senior Analyst, LS Quality Assurance – elected to complete the walk virtually to ensure they all stayed in compliance with health and safety guidelines. “We fundraised really hard for two weeks prior to the walk,” says Lindsay. “I had a ton of success raising money from LinkedIn connections and from internal connections within Carrington. We raised $2,250 and exceed the goal we had set for ourselves.”
After the walk, Lindsay contacted CCF Executive Director Shelly Lawrence to see if her team’s efforts might qualify for matching funds from CCF. The CCF Board graciously approved the request, and matched the funds raised by Lindsay’s team. Lindsay says the entire experience has been inspirational for her. Since the walk, she’s applied to be an ALS Association Advocate to help change the laws and policies that affect those living with ALS.
“Our team wanted to help the best we could, and right now money for research is what’s most needed,” says Lindsay. “If our fundraiser helps just one person in this battle, then our mission was incredibly successful.”
