On Memorial Day, The Carrington Companies Remember our Nation’s Fallen Heroes
A Memorial Day Message from Bruce Rose
For centuries, men and women of exceptional courage have known that there are causes worth dying for. On Memorial Day, solemn silence and quiet reflection can sometimes be the best way to honor the countless American patriots who have made the ultimate sacrifice fighting to preserve our freedom and liberty.
At The Carrington Companies, we honor the brave men and women who made the supreme sacrifice in defense of our country. We are duty bound to support those who were gravely injured fighting for the same cause. It has been the privilege of The Carrington Companies to provide home loans to Veterans and their families through the Veterans Administration sponsored program. Through the Carrington Charitable Foundation (CCF), The Carrington Companies are proud to provide ongoing support to our courageous military service members and their families who have given so much to safeguard our country's freedom. CCF honors these sacrifices directly through our Veteran-focused Signature Programs, which offer diverse support for Veterans by providing the Mobility, Stability, Purpose and Prosperity these heroes need and deserve. It is the right thing to do; and at Carrington we consider it our humble honor and obligation to serve these Veterans and their families.
Since Memorial Day 2020 alone, as part of CCF’s Mobility pillar, the Veterans Airlift Command has flown 316 missions transporting 651 Veterans and family members; and
the VAC has flown more than 18,000 Veterans and family members since its inception. The VAC provides free air transportation to post-9/11 combat wounded and their families for medical and other compassionate purposes through a national network of more than 3,000 volunteer aircraft owners and pilots. Carrington Aviation has flown more than 250 missions to date. As part of our Stability commitment, we welcomed three new Veteran families into their Carrington House homes: the families of U.S. Army Specialist Michael Liscomb, U.S. Army Specialist Matthew Melancon and U.S. Army Sergeant 1st Class Matthew Miles, respectively our 25th, 26th and 27th homes completed to date. For CCF’s Purpose pillar, we continue to support the Travis Mills Foundation and its program in which Veterans and their families receive an all-inclusive, all-expenses-paid, barrier-free respite in Maine’s great outdoors. As part of our work with the Prosperity pillar, we have supported The Honor Foundation and are beginning a program at Carrington to assist and hire transitioning Veterans from U.S. Special Operations Forces into the private sector.
On this Memorial Day, as we recall a year of our own sacrifices and restrictions, we should be ever more grateful to those who fought and sacrificed to preserve the greater freedoms we have long held dear. Wherever you may find yourself on Memorial Day – at a parade, a service or a holiday gathering with loved ones – please pause to reflect on the memories of those brave heroes who gave until they could give no more.
This Memorial Day, on behalf of The Carrington Companies, we thank our nation's Veterans. They will always be honored and remembered.
