Welcome to Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month
May is here, and we’re shifting our focus this month to a new charitable pursuit: Cystic Fibrosis Awareness! If you’re unfamiliar with this disease, here’s a little background: it’s a genetic ailment that affects the lungs, pancreas and other organs, creating a thick buildup of mucous that blocks airways and traps bacteria. This can lead to life-threatening illnesses, lung infections and limits one’s ability to breathe. 30,000 Americans are living with cystic fibrosis, with 1,000 new cases reported each year – and more than 10 million Americans are symptomless carriers of the CF gene.
